Case Study - Respite Support
A young woman, suffering from domestic violence, was in crisis. She had mild learning
disabilities and some mental health issues. She was lured by an older man who married her for her
Passport so he could remain in the UK. He was a control freak who beat her up and would not allow her
to speak to anyone outside the home. One day he beat her so badly that their neighbour called the
police. Her husband was arrested and she was moved into respite care in Reading. Unfortunately, she
ended up contacting one of her husband’s family members and they convinced her that she should return
home. Comfort Care was, however, able to offer several weeks’ valuable respite to enable her to
recover physically and regain her strength.
